Ten hundreds stacked up make a solid thousand: 10 × 100 = 1000.

Numbers to Ten Million #
Eight digits, read in groups of three.
The places keep growing tenfold, and the comma groups them three at a time
Ten thousand-blocks make ten thousand. Ten of those make a hundred thousand.
Big numbers group three digits at a time: 342,516 is 342 thousands and 516.
Read the front group, say thousand at the comma, then read the back group.
A second comma marks millions: 4,250,000 reads four million, two hundred fifty thousand.

How far one line has turned from another.
An angle measures how far one line has turned away from another
A quarter turn is a right angle: 90°. The little square marks it.
Turn less than 90° and the angle is acute.
Turn past 90° and the angle is obtuse.

Read the protractor from the zero the arm sits on.
An angle is read off the protractor, starting from the zero its arm sits on
The angle at B, between arms BA and BC, is written ∠ABC — the vertex in the middle.
Center on the vertex, zero along one arm: the other arm crosses the scale at 50.
Both rings mark this arm: 130 and 50. Start from the arm on zero — it is 130.

Telling the Time #
Two hands, two speeds, two meanings.
The short hand names the hour; the long hand counts the minutes in fives
The short hand names the hour — it points at 3. The long hand counts minutes.
The long hand counts in fives: every numeral is 5 minutes. On the 3, that is 15.
On the 6 it has counted six fives — 30 minutes. Half past three.
At 3:45 the short hand has crept near the 4 — the hour stays 3 until it passes 12.

An hour is 60 minutes, written h and min
From 3:00 to 4:00 is one hour, and one hour is 60 minutes.
Hour shortens to h and minute to min: 1 h = 60 min, 2 h = 120 min.
Half an hour is 30 min — the long hand has gone half the way round.
